And just like any tool, it can be learned and mastered.
The key is to stay focused and keep taking action toward your goals.

TEN POINTS SUCCESS MAP AS YOUR COMPASS TO PASS YOUR CSA
Like in all form of exams, the knowledge is the King.
So the FIRST THING TO DO IS TO BUILD YOUR KNOWLEDGE GAP to make a huge IMPACT.
After all, you have just 3 seconds to make a first impression.
We have got only few seconds to grab someone’s attention or lose them forever.
So follow this 10 point
S.U.C.C.E.S.S. M.A.P.
1. STRUCTURE YOUR CONSULTATION
Yes, Have a strategic plan about the points to be covered.
Make it as though real and casual way.
Do not sound like a police interrogating the suspect.
Do not jump to guess the agenda of the case.
Be patient and let the simulator unfold the story.
Just be present and be a facilitator and a very good listener.
2. ULTIMATE COMPASSION AND SERVICE MINDSET.
Show ultimate care and affection. That’s what you would lose in the exam scenario.
Have an ultimate service mindset. This will make a huge difference in your performance.
3. CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY
Be consistent in your performance. It is energy draining exam.
You need to finish 7 cases first and then 6 cases after the short interval.
So have a plan and stick with it to make it easy on the day.
4. CONSIDER HEALTH PROMOTION, RESOURCES.
Yes, Promote health information appropriately.
That’s what GPs do in our surgery, reminding the patients that the prevention is the best medicine.
5. ENGAGE AND INSPIRE
Engage the patient in the consultation.
Make them feel listened and a part of the decision-making process.
Inspire them to take charge of their health.
6. SUPERCHARGE WITH YOUR LISTENING POWER
Be a good listener.
Active listening is a skill.
Do it 100% in your consultation to pass your csa.
Otherwise it would be a fatal error causing failure.
7. SHOW SINCERE EMPATHY
Be a real and compassionate doctor.
Make the patient feel that you have understood their feelings.
Make it a sincere effort to show empathy.
Do not use the common phrases like a machine.
Feel it when expressing your empathy.
Then it will show up in your tone.
8. MASTER YOUR MESSAGE
Yes, Make your explanation short and sweet.
Keep your message simple and sweet.
It needs lots of practice.
Observe the senior GPs and work with your GP trainers to master your message.
9. ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR LIMITATIONS
This is vital. Though we are expected to know something about everything, it is not possible in the real life.
So accept your limitations and ask for help if needed.
10. PACK UP WITH A SAFETY NET
Please this is vital.
We try to do it all the time in the GP world.
Safe is better than sorry, Right?
So practice to manage your time effectively and finish on time.
Have a clear management plan with follow-up.
Have an appropriate safety netting.
The most important thing is
You have to take action, practice and take the right steps to pass your CSA.
