It is important to explore the ideas, concerns and expectations.
Explore the relevant symptoms, risk factors like sunbed usage, sunscreen etc.
It is easy to break the bad news if the patient is already suspecting it.
It is vital to make a clear plan that it will be referred using 2 week wait referral pathway and what the patient might expect to come across in the hospital.
No Biopsy is allowed at our GP Surgery.
It is important to check the understanding and clear out the doubts.
Offer leaflets on suspected melanoma.
Ensure if the patient has got good support system.
Make a clear follow-up plan.
