November 2012 MRCGP CSA – results summary

The November 2012 CSA examination was sat by 815 candidates during a 11 day
period between 14 and 26 November. 429 (52.6%) of this cohort were sitting the
examination for the first time.
481 candidates were successful resulting in a pass rate of 59.0%; this compares with
figures of 55.2% for the September 2011 examination and 62.5% for November 2011 .
The pass rate for first time applicants was 79.5%, the comparative figures for the
September 2011 and November 2011 examinations being 83.3% and 77.5%
respectively.
The mean score for the entire cohort was 76 out of 117, which is identical to that
recorded in the May 2012 examination, with the highest score achieved being 106
marks. 24 candidates scored 100 marks or more on this occasion. The minimum score
achieved was just 23 marks. 33 candidates scored 20 or more marks below the passing
mark for the day on which they sat the examination, 11 of whom were sitting for the first
time. A further 12 candidates from this group were making a second attempt at the
examination and the other 10 a third.
